About Veru
VERU (വേര്), meaning "roots" in Malayalam, is the flagship annual confluence of Dhara, Dharinni's heritage initiative — a living, breathing platform where narratives of natural, cultural and built heritage of Keralam are shared, celebrated and carried forward.
At its heart, Veru is about belonging. It is a space where the silenced histories of rivers, forests, crafts and communities find expression — where a fisher's ecological knowledge stands beside a conservationist's research, and a folk artist's memory enriches a heritage planner's understanding.
Each edition deepens the archive of Kerala's heritage, building relationships and resources that outlast the event itself. Phase 2 — held 2nd and 3rd May 2026 at David Hall, Fort Kochi, with the exhibition continuing through the 6th — invited a wider circle of practitioners, communities and institutions to co-create this shared legacy.
- Vision
- A confluence of regional heritage practitioners to co-create and co-curate narratives rooted in the heritage of Keralam.
- Mission
- Establish micro-regional heritage as accessible, sustainable and relatable by engaging a cross-cultural audience.
- What
- Exhibitions — oral, auditory, visual, archival — talk series, cultural sessions, workshops and participatory programmes.
- Why
- A space for researchers, facilitators and advocates of micro-regional heritage to showcase the journey and build what comes next.

- 03 — Continuum
